Supermodel Lucky Blue Smith dons Behind the Candelabra capes
Foundation provides artifacts for interpretive Icons photo shoot
The Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts recently loaned costume pieces worn by Michael Douglas when he played Liberace in HBO’s “Behind the Candelabra”, to Harper’s Bazaar magazine and supermodel Lucky Blue Smith. The elaborate, Emmy® and Golden Globe® winning costume pieces, designed by Ellen Mirojnick using authentic Liberace Museum Collection costumes as models, are also owned by the Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts.
Congratulations to Lucky Blue Smith, who joins great company in celebrity interpretations of other Icons including Mariah Carey as Marie Antoinette, Dakota Johnson as Aphrodite, Opera Winfrey and Glinda the Good Witch, Jessica Chastain as Joan of Arc, Rosie Huntington-Whitely as Diana Vreeland, Willow Smith as Kali and Chris Lee as Coco Chanel. “Icons of Fashion” was styled by Carine Roitfeld and photographed by Jean-Paul Goude for the September, 2015 edition.
The capes as well as Liberace’s original costumes can be seen in person with most of the Liberace Museum Collection in Las Vegas, by limited audience at Liberace at Thriller Villa: Showmanship and the Man in the Mirror, September 15.
